EGX Over the Years
Simple beginnings
EGX, which started as Eurogamer Exhibitionopened the door for the first time 2008 during London Games Festival. Held in Old Truman Breweryit attracts attention 4,000 gaming fans – a great start to a must-attend event for gamers across Europe.
In its early years, the convention underwent few changes 2009 saw it split Leeds and London. It didn’t arrive 2010 that they found a more permanent home in London Earl’s Courtwhere he remained henceforth five years.
Expanding Universe: Rezzed
In the 2012the show branches out with Repeatedfocused spin-off events PC and indie games. It debuted in Brighton before becoming an integral part of the Eurogamer Expo itself. Here, small indie developers are able to shine alongside industry giants.
Birmingham Takes Over
In the 2015with closure of Earls CourtEGX packed up and moved to National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham. This marked a new era for the convention, making it possible grow in size and ambition. With the move came simplification Name from Eurogamer Expo to EGX.
New Frontier: EGX Berlin
In the 2018EGX expanded beyond the UK with a new event in BerlinGerman. This marks the brand’s first foray into mainland Europe, reflecting its growing popularity. This move helps strengthen EGX’s position as a main player in the international gaming arena.
Adapting to the New World: The COVID Era
That pandemic forcing EGX, like many other events, to adapt. After delays and cancellations in 2020, they partnered with PAX to create a massive online event called PAX Online. This digital version keeps the spirit of the convention alive, allowing gamers to do so connect and engage from the safety of their own home.
EGX Today
EGX returns to in-person event in 2021 with strict security measures. In the 2023convention returns to London Superior interestingly eSports tournament For Tekken 7 And street fighter 6. With partners like TikTok on board, EGX continues to do so develop and provide a memorable experience for gamers.
